QUETTA: Four out of six young abducted footballers have been rescued by the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in Balochistan, ARY News reported on Friday. In a major development, the joint efforts of the LEAs, local administration and the provincial government bore fruit to recover the abducted footballers.  The local footballers had been abducted by unidentified gunmen when they were travelling to Sibi – Balochistan on September 9. The recovered footballers have safely reached their homes. ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has hiked power tariff for K-Electric (KE) consumers on monthly fuel adjustment charges, ARY News reported on Wednesday. As per details, the electricity prices have been increased by Rs 1.48 to Rs 4.45 after the federal government approved the NEPRA plea for the hike in power tariff. The K-electric consumer will pay the increased electricity tariff in the month of October and November 2023. Furthermore, Rs 1.48 increase in electricity tariff for 300 unit consumers, Rs 3.21 for more than 300 unit consumers whereas Rs 4.45 per unit increase for 5 kilo watts and e-vehicle charging stations. KARACHI: Almost two medical stores were sealed in Karachi for selling unregistered and fake medicines on Saturday, ARY News reported. According to details, the district administration has launched a crackdown in South District against selling of unregistered and fake medicines, and hoarding of life-saving drugs. During the crackdown, the administration imposed Rs0.38 million on almost 20 medical stores and also sealed two shops in the Garden area. The raids were carried out in Clifton, Gizri, Lyari General Hospital, Chakiwara, Lea Market and other areas in South District. On September 4, Sindh’s Directorate General (DG) Health took note of drug price hikes and black marketing and directed the District Health Office (DHO) to take immediate actions under police supervision. DG Health in his letter to Drug Inspector sought a report from the drug officer for non-supply of medicines and sales of medicine in black-market. ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has proposed the government to increase the electricity tariff by Rs3.28 per unit on account of quarterly adjustment, ARY News reported on Friday. According to details, the NEPRA has decided to increase electricity tariff, preparing to throw additional burden of Rs160 billon on the power consumers. The regulatory authority has sent the summary to caretaker federal government, proposing an increase of Rs3.28 in electricity tariff under the fourth quarter adjustment of financial year 2022-23. The increase – which will be implemented after federal government’s nod – will also be applied to K-Electric consumers. KARACHI: The total liquid foreign reserves of Pakistan reached to US$ 13.18 billion while reserves held by the central bank stood at $7.69 billion, ARY News reported. The State Bank of Pakistan, in a statement issued here on Thursday, informed that SBP’s reserves increased by $56 million to $7.69 billion during the week ended on September 15, 2023. Meanwhile, net foreign reserves held by commercial banks stood at $ 5.49 billion, it added. KARACHI: Police officials have recovered an abducted 13-year-old housemaid who went missing from Defence Karachi, ARY News reported. As per details, the police spokesperson said that the housemaid used to work in Defence phase-2 but she did not return home for two days.
